Better Nail Polish Application
It is always such an exciting thing discovering a
great shade of
nail polish
at the
beauty store.
You just cannot wait to get home.
At least even once in your life you will end up
making a nail polish fiasco – whether you have just
applied the very first coat on the very first nail,
halfway through the job, or – gasp! – just when you
are waiting for the entire job to dry out. Avoiding
these irritating accidents is possible – with enough
know how, of course.
Buff your nails thoroughly. Buffing smoothes nails
and gets rid of the fine lines or ridges. You want a
smooth base for better application. You want a
three-part buffer that 1) removes ridges, 2)
smoothes the entire expanse of your nail, and 3)
adds shine to get rid crevices that are invisible to
the naked eye.
Before applying color, apply one coat of clear
polish. This is your base coat. The base coat acts
as a barrier between the polish and nails. Some
people end up with yellowy nails after they remove
polish - the chemicals in the colored nail polish
seeped into their nails. A base coat is necessary.
Now is the fun part – applying the polish! Roll the
bottle between the palms of your hand to even out
the color and loosen sludge. Do not shake the
bottle, this will create bubbles that pop up and
ruin the color job. Roll gently and thoroughly for
a minute. Each time you dip your brush, tap off the
excess paint onto the inside to remove excess.
The three-stroke technique - take your brush and
apply one solid coat in the middle of the nail, one
on the left and another on the right. If you want
another coat to really make the color pop out,
repeat the entire process after the first coat has
dried. This is better than two consecutive strokes
per section – doing that will make for an uneven
application. Finish off with one coating of clear
topcoat. The topcoat acts as a protective layer that
keeps your nail harder the nail job longer lasting.
When applying nail polish by yourself, allow drying
time in between application to lessen accidents.
Spread your fingers as far out as you can. And when
the entire job is finished, refrain from doing
anything to your nails as the paint might still be
settling underneath the dry topcoat.
