Eye Liner Tips | The Best Eyeliner Tips for Glamorous Eyes

Eye liners are amazing little beauty product invention because it can transform your eyes from blah to defined, to classic, or to dramatic. See? You can have many looks with just one little pencil. The trick is to control the amount of color that you add to your eyes. But before you go and draw yourself some lines to look a lot more dramatic, there are important things you need to consider.

For one, the oil on your face will cause your eyeliner to sludge off. No matter how expertly you were able to apply your liner, oils on your face will just smear it on the sides, thus making you resemble a raccoon-human-owl crossbreed.  And nobody every found that appealing at all. The trick? Wash your face thoroughly to remove any oils that might wreak havoc on your masterpiece. Use an oil-absorbing product such as Herbal Face Cleanser to cleanse your face and pat dry.

Next, prep the eye area with a dusting of loose powder. Brush on loose powder, such as Mineral Makeup, on the entire eye area.  This will add staying power to your eye liner. When you apply your liner, the product will adhere to the loose powder instead of your skin.  If you get quite active later in the day and produce oils on your face, the oils will be absorbed by the powder and not the liner - protecting you from smears and stains.

When using liquid eyeliner, remember to dot the tip on a piece of tissue to lessen the amount of liner on the wand. If there is too much product on the wand, you might end up with a mess on your face – and we are telling you, it can be pretty hard to remove if you do not know how.  If you are using stick or pencil liners, warm it up first with the tips of your fingers. The heat from your fingers will soften the liner and make for easier application.

Start from the inner corner of your upper lash line and draw a continuous line straight out to the outer corner. Do the same with your lower lash line; you may want to gently tug on the outer corners to reduce the number of creases your liner will pass by as you work.

Made an eyeliner pencil mistake? Keep a q-tip soaked in makeup remover handy. The tiny tip will help nix out errors on your lids without removing most of the makeup. Accidentally globed up your liquid liner outside the eye area? Simply wait for it to dry and when it hardens you can rub it off without much damage. Trying to remove it when it is still wet will just smudge it on your skin some more.

If you happen to notice your eye area getting shiny in the middle of your activities (thus opening up your eyeliner to smudges), pat off the oil using an oil absorbing paper. Remember to pat, not rub, the paper to extend the life of your eyeliner job.
